We are three weeks into the new year. How are you doing? Are you sticking to your commitments?
This year, I decided to focus on just a few high-impact goals for 2016.
I’ve had a lot of time to ruminate on these goals when I was in Arosa, Switzerland attending Leadership at the Peak.
LAP is one of the premiere leadership programs for senior executives offered by the Center for Creative Leadership and attending this Leadership at the Peak was an incredibly profound experience.
That restorative week in the Swiss Alps allowed me to reflect deeply on where I wanted to be in the future, as a leader, a mother, wife and citizen.
Upon my return from Switzerland, I had made my decision.
I want to improve my personal relationships by committing more time to my circle of friends and family. I want to be a better friend, co-worker, mother and wife.
This March Dr. D. and I celebrate our ten-year wedding anniversary. I plan to continue to invest in nurturing our relationship which I know will help us become better parents.
Finally, I set one big, hairy, audacious goal: to get in the shape of my life and enter a body building contest as a figure competitor this fall.
I’ve always been active and athletic but my busy career, motherhood, a two-hour daily commute and a distinct lack of resolve on my diet have left me dissatisfied with my overall physique.
My late brother Bart was an incredible athlete who always encouraged me to stretch myself physically. I’m dedicating my training to him and will use this blog to share my progress.
Training for this contest will be one of the toughest goals I’ve set out to achieve. But I’ve got a great trainer/coach, support at home and the right mindset.
I hope you’ll follow me on this journey.
What goals have you set for 2016? What support do you need to achieve them?
Let’s do it together!
