Dear friends, it’s hard to believe that 2012 has come and gone. My heartfelt thanks for all the support you’ve shown me in the past year and especially in the last month since my brother Bart’s passing. Between the death of my brother, my struggles with secondary infertility, multiple miscarriages and the loss of a dear friend, 2012 wasn’t without its challenges and yet I feel incredibly blessed.
I continued to watch my son blossom into a curious and delightful little toddler, reminding me that the most important thing I can do in my life right now is be a good mother and guide to D2 as he makes his way in this world. Dr. D. and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary and I continue to be humbled and challenged by work of marriage and all that it adds to my life.
My job offered me incredible challenges and an opportunity to sharpen my skills in ways that I have carried over into all aspects of my life including my volunteer work. 2012 was also an important year for Boss Mom as I made it to the two-year milestone. With each post I write, I love it more and more.
My day job turned out to be much more challenging (in a good way) than I had expected this year so I didn’t realize all of the goals I had for Boss Mom. I’ll revisit some of those goals in some fashion in 2013 (more on that later). What I do know is that I love blogging and the opportunities it has given me to meet an amazing group of individuals who have challenged me to be better every day.
Typically by the time the new year arrives, I’ve settled on my goals or major projects for the year (being the compulsive ENTJ planner that I am). Given the recent events of my life though, I’m slowing down and taking the month of January to meditate and reflect on what’s most meaningful to me.
What I know for sure is that even when life does not turn out the way you expect, there are blessings to be had even in the most difficult of times.
I truly believe the best is yet to come and I’m excited about the year ahead. I know I’ll have much to share with you.
I look forward to staying connected with you, virtually and in person, and wish you a New Year filled with love and fulfillment.
Peace and Light,
Portia
